Tribute?

I was in Venice recently. I went some place in the area for a covid test for a show I’ll be on soon, and decided to head here because it’s been long time. It was really windy too. As I was walking to the beach I noticed this pathway set up over the sand to make it so people in wheelchairs can actually get closer to the water. I liked it too because I wasn’t getting as much sand in my shoes.

But this was at the very end, and I have no idea why, or what it even is. But I found it interesting enough.
