‘Iwa Bird

While hanging by the cage I was about to dive with the sharks with Hale’iwa Shark Tours. This girl flew up to and along side us, a Great frigatebird. One of the guys on the boat was telling me about them and said that in Hawaiian it’s called the ‘Iwa, which translates to, thief. The reason for the name is they are known to steal from other birds after they made a catch. I decided to reading further on them it says the females have a white feathers on its chest, while the males have red. It was very cool seeing her fly along side our boat and give us a visit.
