Comikaze ’13 Photos

So this weekend I decided I should head down to the convention center and check out the event going on. I was there friday for like 2 hours and I also headed down saturday for the afternoon and evening. On sunday (today) I decided to stay home to take care of some other things here. Now something I discovered during the event going on was some recording of the show Heroes of Cosplay and I met Victoria Schmidt and Jinyo Hui who were on the show and told them “you know I keep watching it and thinking, why am I doing this to myself?” I also met The Defuser, Parthenon, and Lemuria from the show Who wants to be a Superhero? in which I didn’t know they would be there. Not as big as Anime Expo but still a lot of stuff going on.

If only I joined in the last day.

WonderCon ’13 Photos

Yes, they are online. I ended up taking off from my place saturday morning and it was a very long ride down to Anaheim so I really spent like a day and a half there. I should of left on friday. Oh well, I had fun. And there is a short video coming from someone else famous.

And now to post about things I saw and people I talked to, for example I ran into the Nerds Like Us guys dressed as Dark Helmet and Barf from Spaceballs. Meet the original Blue Ranger from the Power Ranger series, and the Soup Nazi from Seinfeld. Turns out he was in more stuff I’ve seen then I had once believed. Took part of a scavenger hunt created by the guys from Been Better Comics. Sadly I didn’t get the chance to show them photos of what I got on the list. Talked to the people from the TooSoon Comic booth and told them one thing I’m trying to do to get more people to like my page on facebook is when I get 500 likes on my page I’ll post a video of a toilet being destroyed. I think they said they want to help out on that because they want to see that video. Meet with a guy going by the name EJ De la Pena from the series Nobilty. He said it was like the Office in space. That kind of peaks my interest. And last before I took off I looked at the Cartoon Hangover booth and a guy there asked if I had seen Bravest Warrior. Told him I haven’t and signed a card for me saying to. So many things I need to watch.

To bad I was only there for 2 days, I knew I should of headed down on the first one.

To the Cosplayers 1

To the Cosplayers

I came across this graphic recently of cosplayers thanking us photo guys for our hard work and dedication as photographers, which I find strange because they are the ones that spend the time and money putting these outfits together. I just walk up to them and say “hey, can I take a photo?” and post it online for everyone to check out. So I felt I should make something back showing them some love. Now yes, sometimes I might also dress up myself, like when I was Loki during ALA or once dressed up as Vicious from Cowboy Bebop, but my costumes are usually made up of stuff I have already or buy at the store and just put on. Many of those people actually make them from materials they buy from various stores, while studying the photos of who they are dressing up as so they can get it just right. More power to them.

Nisei Festival ’12

So I friend of mine was telling me about this earlier in the week and invited me to join in so I figured why not. So the whole deal of the event is about Japanese Americans and how they are a part of our culture and to celebrate it. It started off with me meeting with some people at this one little staged area during a cosplay competition in which the winner and other favorites won some kind of figurine. so then it was wondering around some more, taking more photos and mainly talking to other people there. And finally the parade. It was rather short and I hung with this one group and took some photos of them as the walked the route. It was strange because I’m a little more used to being in a parade on my rollerblades and taking photos from there, because i’m baller like that. I guess it’s because I didn’t expect that to happen, oh well.

Let the festival commence
