Gaylord

I remember as a kid a fairly common insult people would make to each other was, gaylord. At the time I didn’t know what that meant, let alone what being gay was for a long time. I’m sure most other kids didn’t know either, they just knew it was supposed to mean something bad. As I got older and figured out what it meant for a person to be gay, and was also led to believe bogus things about the community, which is why I was homophobic back then. What changed that was the death of Matthew Shepard. But the term, gaylord was kind of funny still.

As I was heading off from santacon I saw this big sign on this building, I knew I had to take a photo. But it turns out the word, gaylord had a completely different meaning centuries ago.
