WeHo Halloween ’12

So I had a good night, had a lot of fun, and I had a bunch of people stop me and ask for a photo as I was going as Loki in the suit...

Occupy LA 9.30.12

So I was in downtown today and came to discover near city hall what was called the, Really Really Free Market in which some people came by to drop some stuff off like food or clothing they didn’t want anymore for anyone else that came by that might want it there. I just took some water and little snack things. People also made shirts and shared stories and ideas with each other, nice little shindig going on.

I’m glad I went by.

Black Tie Beach ’12

Well, that was fun. To bad my ride down was kind of a pain in the ass. It started off with taking my first bus down a little later then I wanted to but I figured it would be fine, I shouldn’t be all that late. Luckily things were going rather smoothly until some point on the green line I had to hop off at the Hawthorne/Lennox station where I had to take a shuttle bus to the station I was aiming for, then from there hop on my last bus down. Took a little while for it to get to Hermosa Beach but sadly I ended up jumping off to a little to early and was in Manhattan Beach, uhh. At least another came by soon after, picked me up and finally I got there. Found a nice little group of people and hung for like 3 hours. Felt so good to be there and it was nice to get my feet in the cool water in comparison to how hot it’s been everywhere around here for the past 2 weeks.

And it’s also a nice excuse to dress up

Nisei Festival ’12

So I friend of mine was telling me about this earlier in the week and invited me to join in so I figured why not. So the whole deal of the event is about Japanese Americans and how they are a part of our culture and to celebrate it. It started off with me meeting with some people at this one little staged area during a cosplay competition in which the winner and other favorites won some kind of figurine. so then it was wondering around some more, taking more photos and mainly talking to other people there. And finally the parade. It was rather short and I hung with this one group and took some photos of them as the walked the route. It was strange because I’m a little more used to being in a parade on my rollerblades and taking photos from there, because i’m baller like that. I guess it’s because I didn’t expect that to happen, oh well.

Let the festival commence

Anime Expo ’12 – Day 4 – Final

They are all now online… yes! so many of them, holy crap. Now day 4 wasn’t exactly very eventful, I walked around taking more photos and a little video (which is coming, not a lot but I have some. just hope tape didn’t warp anywhere), and because there were a lot less people there I didn’t get as many photos but of what I did they came out nicely. Also something I need to do is once again figure out a new gallery system, all this manual stuff is a pain in the ass so I need to pull something off.

And now we have it, final day, see you next year.

Anime Expo ’12 – Day 3

The day started off with something really strange happening. as I was walking by the blue line station I hear some guy screaming out “stop!” and I see him grab some guy saying he is making a citizens arrest and calling for the guards at the station to do something about him. I have no idea what happened, figured it was because he might of hit the guy or told something from him and just got on his bike and rode off. So the first guy is yelling out “I don’t feel safe in this area anymore.” “lets all break the law, we should give him a medal.” Turns out it was because the guy was riding his bike on the platform. Yes it is recommended not to do that but most people don’t really care anyways that I’ve found.

Much more hanging around, taking photos, and later that day a friend of mine with me find herself a bit of a stalker, he was walking around her for a while taking photos from different angles so we called one of the staff guys to help us out to cover her and get the guy kicked out if we catch him doing it again with her or anyone else. So remember everyone, AX staff are also there to keep us safe. and later that night there was a rumor a girl was kidnapped but it turned up she went home without telling her friends so all was fine.

so much more crazy.

WeHo Halloween ’11

What a night, and I would say better then last year to. This year I went as Hesher from the movie Hesher with Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Rainn Wilson, and Natalie Portman. It was a rather entertaining movie with the most hilarious vandalism I’ve ever seen happen in it. I almost died when I saw what was put on that one kids car but I’m getting away from the subject. Went down with some friends of mine and met up with a few other people I know and hung for a while and got some nice shots while there.

Now originally this year I was planning of going as Green Lantern and was going to cut my hair (which this is currently batch 3) sometime last month to fit with the costume but I decided to keep it long for what I went as instead. And besides I can always do that again later. I had 2 people know what I was pulling off, one girl think I was some dude from Red Hot Chilly Peppers (eww), another thought I was a hippie, and had one guy that got a photo of me and tell me I have excellent hair. I almost saw a fight happen between a drag queen and an asian dude going as a martini glass, the queen yelled at him to go back to china, to bad the guy was japanese and told him not to worry about it. Last as I was leaving the event I had a cop stop me and ask what was in the bottle. It was a Fiji bottle I relabeled and filled with apple juice. Before I wanted to get a plastic bottle of Jack but I couldn’t find any place around me that had them because I did not want to carry glass around and AJ looks close enough anyways.

That and I’m cheap.

And one more thing, anyone out there that got a photo of me during the event can you email me where you have it posted or send it to me at thesteelshark[at]gmail[dot]com? that would be great.

Occupy LA Oct ’11

Photos up. alright. first of all, local news story link.

Alright, story time now. I went down with a friend to the meeting point at Pershing Square where everyone was gathering. Some of the event planners spoke and let us know the rules and how to make everything safe and fun for everyone and what not to do, yeah, boring stuff. Then we walked over to City Hall and hung around the place. With no surprise there were conspiracy nuts there that believe the CIA is after them, the Illuminati is behind everything and Alex Jones is the wisest person in the world. Little do they know. I also had someone accuse me of being part of the “system” little does she know, that in a sense we are all a part of the system.

But over all I met a lot of great people, smart, funny, and over all entertaining. And many people are still there camping out but for who knows how long? so I’ll be back when I have time and hang with everyone again.

Free Mandela!
