LA Beard & Moustache Competition ’14

So on saturday was the LA Facial Hair Society’s 2nd Annual Beard & Moustache Competition. This time I had a chance to go in and got to see a lot of great hair on peoples faces and costumes just as grand, and at times, humorous. I made it to the set location a little later then I had wanted to but was still early. When I gave my name on what I was listed as I also had the name attacked to me, “street shark” oh yes. Doesn’t matter, I was cracked up by that.

I met a lot of great people there and found everyone to be a laugh and wish I can remember more.

Hope to see that again next year.

Fresh Meat Expo Bout: The Jawbreakers vs. Hell-Raising Heathers

And now Photos are online and story time.

A few days ago while on facebook I found myself upon a summons. Someone had made a post looking for a photographer for a roller derby event because they didn’t have anyone else available and I was tagged by a friend in the comments. I talked to the person shortly to get more info on each other and we set a time and place to meet up and head over. Now I have been to a game before but at the time was unable to bring my camera in so it was nice to be able to this time around. Now it did get dark relatively soon after the game started but I wasn’t going to let that stop me. I believe I got some nice shots out of it despite the low light and high speeds these girls were moving going at. Over all, I had fun and what I liked most out of it is the fact they hit each other pretty hard but still have a lot of respect of each other.

I hope to do that again sometime.

So from what I as able to check out it was interesting. I couldn’t get in because first of all tickets for a badge is a massive amount and it’s hard to get in as press because my site don’t rank very well at all. Anywho, Nivdia had themselves a tent outside the convention center with demos of games. I got to play the new Gauntlet game in the works and something also called Strife. Both of which I liked.

Something else cool was outside there a was truck handing out turkey legs in promotion of the Gauntlet game. They just ask you to take a photo and post it on social media which I did not get the email of the photo taken of me for some reason, oh well, I got some of other people from my own camera. Met a couple of people standing by a bus to promote another game called Sunset Overdrive and looking at the trailer for it, looks kind of fun. Ran into some other friends of mine, two are going to be on a show from which they were asked question of whether the name given to them is a Kings player or someone from the show Game of Thrones. May I’ll post a link on that later.

Well, hopefully more people will start going to this site and maybe I’ll get in next year.

LA Pride ’14 Photos

As I do every year during the parade, I find myself a way in. This year I was with PFLAG and we were asking to wear red. I put on my shawarma shirt. I got there about 20 minutes later then I wanted to but even then I was still early. I put on my blades and rode from the end of the route to where everyone was gathering, found my group, introduced myself and hung for a bit. I also saw there was some time left before everything started so I went over to see the other floats, talked to some other people and took more photos.

After, 20 minutes we got on Santa Monica Blvd and started walking along the street and soon after our group was announced I hear the name Betty DeGeneres. I rolled up to her and asked “Ellen’s mother?” I gave her a hug and said that I love her daughter. I later got a photo with her which was taken by a friend using his camera so I’ll post that later. While the parade was going on I’ve heard a name shouted out to me a few times and each one I know was to me, Jared Leto. A nice hand full of people called me over, wanted to give me hugs, get photos with me, and play with my hair some. Some other people called me Jesus… [sigh], lame.

After the parade came to an end I, as every year went up and down the blvd to find other people and things to take photos of. After a while I ran into a guy I know and then some others and just ended up hanging out together. At one point I took a photo of one person, talked for a bit and she asked how we’ve like the festival also going. I told her we don’t have tickets because we didn’t want to have to spend $20 per person and then asked, “how many of you ate there here?” and just handed us some free passes. Much love to her.

We went inside and by then it was already getting kind of dark. Wandered around, hung out and had more people stop me saying they love my hair. I’m kind of glad I kept it long for this because I had thought about cutting my hair before the event but I was advised to do so afterwards.

Also, to many hot lesbians

Long Beach Comic Expo ’14

I decided to head down to long back for this event. While many others were at the beach looking for angry bird with money inside (which I’m sure would of been fun) I covered this instead and ran into some friends again, others from before that I would say have now officially met, and hung out with some new people.

Though a small con taking place in a relatively small convention center, there was another con happening at the same time at the same place. Some of the venders also walked around and handed out bottles of their product. The only thing I got really was something called Alkame. Seemed like most other water I’ve had but was nice to drink anyways and helped keep my hydrated. Plus I finished that first before I finished off the water bottle I brought before hand.

Oh, and there was this one girl that keeping seeing me walking back and forth and was thinking to herself something along the lines of, “Who does he look like? I can’t remember the name” then it hit her, Jared Leto. Then she came up to me, talked for a while and asked for a photo. Yeah, of course I’ll join you in a photo, I don’t see why not.

Huh, not a lot to talk about really. Oh well, I still enjoyed myself.

GolfKon ’14 – Memorial Tournament ’14

So as you saw on yesterdays post the event I was at was on the news. The day started off with me getting there early because I didn’t want to arrive just after noon when it had already gotten hot. I helped out some getting the course ready and by 11 the practice round had started for anyone trying to get a feel of the place. A lot of people came in to the event and before the whole thing started Don Fullilove appeared, and then Claudia soon after.

The first match was played by Claudia and Don and both of them ended up getting the same score. Don wanted to play again to get a better one this time around and I offered to be his partner. I didn’t do so well myself but he did get a better score so that make him happy. I also enjoyed playing with him do to the fact he is kind of funny. While there Claudia also mentioned to me a store she runs, Armani Wells and from what she told me in what she sold, I might be interested in checking it out to see if something over there can be of use to me, and from what I understand is also cheap which is really nice for me.

A bit of a while after the crowd had died down and we got to the last rounds of the event and we soon after had a winner.

Love is Love Showing

Love Is Love: 5 Year Road To Marriage (Exhibit Grand Opening & One City One Pride Kickoff). Being held by a friend of mine showcasing photos which in his words, “Moving images of people who took to the streets for marriage equality and the moments they experienced. 22 large prints from Love Is Love’s vast documentation of LGBT activism in the greater Los Angeles area.”

I didn’t get that many at all, partly because I got there very late and spend much of the time there eating the food but at least I got something. Also something really fun that happened that night. I was talking to this one guy telling him that when ever I get myself in a parade I put only blades and ride around taking photos, and much of that time I’m skating backwards. So the guy says something to me along the lines of, “Wait, that was you? I remember seeing that during the pride parade late year, and found that to be amazing. How can you do that?” To be honest I have no idea, just skate backwards and hold a camera up.

oh well, here they are.

May Day Rally ’14

So this happened. The strange part was the fact that there seemed to of been 3 different rallies that day, and the one I as at might of been the smaller rally. Definitely not as big as last year which was nice then, and I don’t think last year was as hot either. I also didn’t get as many photos this year due to how much smaller of a crowd was there.

Well, at least it was nice to get out and do something else.

Wondercon ’14 Photos

I went down sunday, I wanted to do so on saturday to but one of the people that wanted to join me had a rather busy morning so that ended up becoming a bust. When I got there I hung around outside and hung with some friends of mine there and then went in to get some more stuff.

While inside I meet some interesting new people like Samwise Didier, Art Director at Blizzard and he posts some of his other work on Sons of the Storm. I shook his hand and took him that I enjoy his work. I also asked him it was possible to relay to the warcraft team to add a new foods item in the next WoW expansion to be stuff like tacos or pizza. He said something about murloc tacos which was good.

I also got some little flyers and cards from people for comics like Empire of the Wolf. It was described to be, if I can remember correctly, if Rome was a society of werewolves and uses the story of Romulus and Remus and the mythological story of them being raised by wolves as a base. That’s just crazy enough to be interesting. Also came across a couple of guys with the Doomhammer and he turns out they were promoting their music and they have one of the strangest videos I’ve seen. Wow, I just realized I didn’t talk to all that many people, because last thing that happened was as I was taking off I had a guy stop me, hand me a flyer for something and take of photo of me with it. It was for the up and coming VideoGames Live concert in june. I’ve actually gone to that before at the Hollywood Bowl years ago and I rather enjoyed it. And if you buy a ticket use the pre-sale code “WONDER” as says the flyer I have.

Wish I was there more. oh well.
