Warcraft – Argent Tech Tree

On todays episode of Warcraft 3: Oh my god is this weird fan project this guy is making still going on of what he imagines new tech trees would look like if they keep the story of Warcraft going as more and more expansions of Warcraft 3, instead of the MMO World of Warcraft? And using the WoW Head Dressing Room to create his concepts.

Soldier

Today is the in game origination, the Argent Dawn. They started off as part of another group, the Scarlet Crusade, then some members realized the group had lost their damn minds and broke off to start their own origination to fight the Undead Scourge. and unlike the Scarlet’s they accept aid from members of both the Horde and Alliance, instead of acting aggressively. I also remade the table above to allow more tech trees to be inserted that I already had some ideas for. Plus rearranged some links. At the time I didn’t know what I wanted for their trees entirely and after some thought after a long period of time I believe I’m set for what I believe could work out.

Archer
Guard

I also wanted this tech tree to be fairly diverse and using members of some playable races in WoW. It was a lot trying to figure out what worked out and what didn’t for each role. I originally had in mind that each combat unit will have the same armor set, and the casters all had the same, but I wasn’t feeling that so I changed things up in a way that I felt made more sense.

Starting this off is the worker unit for the Argent Dawn, As of now I have in mind to call it the Militia. They will basically be a mix of a Peasant and Militia on the human tree already in game, and Call to Arms ability doesn’t even need to be enabled, they just go on the attack when enemy units are around.

Defender
Lightbringer

The next group of units are the combat, starting with the tier 1, the Soldier. A Dwarf dual wielding hammers, and will likely have the ability, Bash to help in combat. The ranged unit, the Archer, which will be a Night Elf. Next up are two different, what I would call tier 2 units. The first one I’m calling the Guard, which will be an Orc. The other, a Draenei that at the moment I’m calling the Lightbringer, because that’s all I can think of for now, but the name might change. Both of them might have some kind of unique ability and be just as powerful of the Orc Grunt already on Orc tree in game. And last, the tier 3 which will be a Tauren, the Defender. A large and powerful unit which will be much the same of the Tauren already in game.

Mage
Deacon

The next set are the casters. There are going to be a bunch here starting with a Gnome that I’m calling at the moment, the Mage. The name will change, and I have in mind it will have some of the same abilities as the Sorceress. Then there is the Deacon, which will be a Blood or High Elf with the same abilities as the Elf Priest in game. Next is the Priestess. an Undead Forsaken that will have who knowns what abilities. Maybe one will be a healing spell. Also in the in game lore some members of the Argent Dawn are Undead who do have their own independent thought and do wish to fight back against the Undead Scourge. And last among them, the Troll Templar. Once again, no idea what its abilities will be, but might be something in common with the Shaman or Witch Doctor on the Orc tree.

Priestess
Templar

The next set are the Siege units, which will likely be a Catapult or Ballista, and since both have in game models that helps a lot. As for the flying unit I’m split between the Gryphon Rider already in game in and the Hippogryph (and Rider) seen on the Night Elf tree. Can always do both.

And finally, the Hero units. Starting with the Human Paladin, since they are Warriors of the light I figure that would be fitting. Then next is the Orc Elementist, basically a Far Seer. Then there is the High, or Blood Elf Ranger, based on the Ranger campaign unit already in game. And last the Draenei Dawnbringer, just to round it out to 4 heroes. It will basically be a type of Priest hero.
