Warcraft – Alliance Sub-Race Tech Trees

This morning Blizzard will be uploading a video for what is known as the Warcraft Direct. It’s celebrating 20 years of WoW, and 30 of the Warcraft games altogether. Pretty much what will be happening is they will be talking about new things coming to the Warcraft franchise, which likely includes Warcraft 3 Reforged. Now remember, this is entirely a fan made thing of what I’m posting on here. I’m hoping some big new things will come, including features that were cut, and a working version of the map editor for Mac users.

For this post, I’ll be talking about my concepts of some of the races who would be a part of the Alliance, but won’t have complete tech trees. They will play a role sub races like the Naga, Fel Orcs and Broken Draenei already do in Warcraft 3 single player campaign. Just adding some new and different units into the mix on some stages providing some aid or being a problem. Depending on who you play as.

Now if all of my ideas were put together to make a giant playable set of campaigns taking from the story of WoW and remaking it as a strategy game in the style of Warcraft 3, they would be seen on a few stages at most. Remember, these aren’t meant to be compete trees, even thought there is a lot I put to them. Anyways, these concerts were put together with the help of the WoW Model Viewer and the WoW Head Dressing Room.

High Elves

Arcane Guardian

The first group I’m starting with is the High Elves, first seen in Warcraft 2, then again in the third game with an expanded role. Then in WoW with a greatly reduced role because most of them became what is now known as the Blood Elves. Now since there is already a mostly complete tree in Warcraft 3, I won’t have much to add on.

Starting off with the combats units, the Swordsman and Archer will remain, but will be adding an Arcane Guardian, much like what the Blood Elves have.

Light Bringer
Battle Mage

The casters will remain the same with the Priest and Sorceress, and nothing new or anything else. Same with the siege and flying units, no changes there.

Last is the heroes. The Ranger will remain. There will be a new caster hero, the Battle Mage, which will be the High Elf version of the Blood Mage. Slightly based on concept art from when Warcraft 3 was in the works. And last the Light Bringer which will be a Paladin type hero.

Frostborn

Next are the Frostborn, which will have a lot added since this is a new tree. They are a group of Dwarves first seen in the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. They have icy looking blue skin. The units here are based on NPCs already in WoW.

Starting with the worker that I’m calling the Iceshaper. And I’m pretty sure their buildings will have an ice/snow theme.

Next is the combat, starting with the Slayer. Pretty much the idea form this actually has to do with some art I saw from Warhammer long ago with a Dwarf holding two axes. Plus the first Warcraft game was originally meant to be a Warhammer game but things happened and they made their own story. Next is the Sharpshooter, a ranged unit. I was going to her blue skin like the male dwarves, but that option isn’t available with the model files in WoW to I made do with what I could. And last the tier 3, the Bear Rider. The idea from this came from some other art I saw awhile back, Bear Calvary.

Next is the Casters, just two. The first being a Priest, and the other a Shaman. The siege will be either a Catapult or Ballista. And last the flying unit, with the Storm Rider. It will be much like the Gryphon Rider on the human tree already in game, but will be flying on an eagle.

And last the heroes. First is the Mountain King, will be much like the version already in game. The Far Seer, which will be like the version on the Orc tree. And last the Huntsmaster, which will be like the version I made for my Dwarf tree.

Void Elves

The Void Elves are a a group of High Elves and Blood Elves who didn’t want to be a part of the Horde, and are empowered by void energies. First seen in the Legion expansion, fairly late in game as an allied race for the Alliance. Their tree will be more a refection of the Blood Elf tree. The Worker unit will pretty much be the same thing as the worker for the High and Blood Elves.

Starting with the combat units. Tier 1 will be the Swordsman. Next up in the Archer and last is another Arcane Guardian. Yeah, not much imagination there but they will all look different.

Next group is the casters, and there will be 3. Much like the High and Blood Elves, they will also have a Priest and Sorceress, and like the Blood Elves, will also have a Warlock type unit. Siege will also have a Ballista, but no flying units this time, only because I can’t figure anything out right now. Some name changes could happen.

Finally the heroes, starting with the Umbral Ranger, which is just the Void Elf version of the other Elf Ranger units. Next is the Void Mage, basically their version of the Blood Mage, loosely based on the character Magister Umbric from when you first see him in game. And last the Riftblade, a direct combat hero based on the NPC with the same name. The idea is it would be their version of the Blood Knight or Light Bringer, but with more void aligned abilities.

Lightforged

And last, the Light Forged Draenei. First seen in the Legion expansion. They are part of the Army of the Light who has always been battling against the Burning Legion. The Worker unit will be the same thing as the version with the regular Draenei.

First up are the combat units with the Peacekeeper, which will be like the Draenei version. Then is the Defender, same thing are the regular Draenei version. And last the Elekk Rider, which will be like a Kodo Beast from the Orc tree

Next up is the caster units, not as many as what the Draenei has, with just the Anchorite, and Magus. The siege will be another kid of Ballista, but can’t think of any flying units.

And last, the heroes. First up is the High Priest, a caster hero with healing and light based combat abilities. The Rangari, much of the same as what’s in the Draenei I already made before, and last the Vindicator. Once again. Not much different.

Well, that was a long post. But once again, they would play a role sub races like the Naga, Fel Orcs and Broken Draenei already do in Warcraft 3.
