Warcraft – Nightborne Tech Tree
Hello everyone, it’s time for another episode of my little fan series; Warcraft 3: who in their right mind would keep something like this going, reimagining ideas from World of Warcraft, to be playable in the style of the strategy games Warcraft started as? With my concepts made using actual model files from WoW, and this time using WoW.Tools model viewer to bring up the visuals I have in mind.
Human | Dwarf | Gnome | Draenei | Worgen | Orc | Tauren | Troll | Forsaken | Blood Elf | Goblin |
Kul Tiran | Dark Iron | Mechagnome | Allied Sub | Zandalari | Nightborne | Mag’har | Horde Sub |
Scourge | Legion | Naga | Old Gods | Twilight | Pandaren | Tuskarr | Dracthyr | Mawsworn |
Today is the Nightborne. The elf lineage is pretty big, and based on in game lore, they started off as Trolls. They then became the Night Elves, the War of the Ancients happened, and one group completely isolated themselves and became what is known as the Nightborne. They were first seen during the Legion expansion, and most of their leaders made a pact with the Burning Legion, but it was to prevent their people from being killed off. Then there was a rebellion that was taken down, which is where the in game players come in and kick it off again. This time it leads to victory and towards the end of the expansion they become playable.
And now to start things off, with the worker unit, that as of the moment I’m calling the Engineer. Now before I go any further, when I was trying to figure out their looks, I was going to go with the dress-up model route like I did with the other playable in WoW races. But I decided to go with the models that were first put in game entirely because they had their own unique style that I thought was far more fitting. Unfortunately because of this I was unable to attach weapons to them. I also made this tech tree with the intention of it being a mirror of the Blood Elf tree that already exists in game, along with the other, newer unit concepts I added on the page linked above.
The next group of units are the combat. Starting off with the Swordsman as the tier 1 unit. It will act like the Footman from the Human tree already seen in Warcraft 3. Next up is the Archer, which will be your simple ranged unit, much like the version seen with the Night Elves. And last is the Construct, which will take place of the Arcane Guardian on the Blood Elf tree, but will basically act the same way. The only difference is the look. It is based on the Nightborne Construct that is already seen in WoW.
And now it’s time for the caster units. Once again, this is entirely a mirror of the Blood Elf tree I put together. First is the Priest, which will act like the version of the Human tree. Mainly acting as a healer. Next is the Sorceress, which once again, much like the version on the human tree already in Warcraft 3. Then the Spellbreaker, which, you guested it, like what is already in game. And last is the Warlock. Now there might be some slight cosmetic changes, like how their outfits won’t look entirely like each other. Basically they would each have their own personal flair, or just changing the color of somethings. Like how the Priest will have glowing elements more of a light yellow, and the Spellbreaker to have some more armor.
Next is the siege units, which will be a Nightborne theme Ballista. I do believe that’s already in game, at least it should be. And last the flying unit, the Hippogryph Rider. Thought it is based on the creature on the Night Elf tree, it will act like the Dragonhawk on the Human tree. But here it will be a Nightborne Elf riding a Hippogryph.
And finally, the hero units. Each will be a counterpart to one of the Blood Elf heroes. Starting with the Ranger, which will be like what is in Warcraft 3. Next is the Arcanist, based on Thalyssra and Elisande, and will be the Nightborne version of the Blood Mage. The Blademaster which is more to the their equivalent of the Demon Hunter. And last is the Spellblade, which is meant to be like the Blood Knight. All of them would have the same basically abilities as the Blood Elf version of the heroes.
