Warcraft – Horde Sub-Race Tech Trees
And now time for the last group, for my little fan series… What if Warcraft 3 kept going on and on as a strategy game, instead of an MMO, expanding the in game lore in that way instead and making online matches to be a lot crazier and possibility give it more playability. But yeah, last group, at least possibly for now. I do have some other ideas but there is a lot to work on and figure out still.
This set is of Allies Races for the Horde, but because these tech trees are more limited I didn’t want to make a bunch of separate posts for each group. Their roles will be much like sub races already seen in Warcraft 3 like the Naga, Fel Orcs and Broken Draenei. I don’t intend for them to have full tech trees, mostly because it’s far too much work to figure out and I didn’t think it made sense.
Now the reason I started making these concepts is because I’ve always wondered what things could look like if there was another Warcraft strategy game and Blizzard decided to go insanely overboard in a way like they did with the Starcraft 2 single player campaign. Then after Reforged was announced I remember hearing about the potential of DLC campaigns. I know there was a plan to remake the campaign with an updated version of the story for Warcraft 1 as DLC but that got canceled. But I did believe there was a lot of possibilities that could be done, like creating campaigns based on in game lore from the distant past, Like the Rise of the Black Empire, Aqir and Troll War, or War of the Three Hammers. A lot of new assets could be made that will give the game longer replay value for not just single player games but online. And they wouldn’t have to change anything when it comes to the already established game play for online matches, just have a new series of maps to play on with new art.
These are simply my own ideas that I put together using the WoW Model Viewer and the Dressing Room feature on WoWHead.
Human | Dwarf | Gnome | Draenei | Worgen | Orc | Tauren | Troll | Forsaken | Blood Elf | Goblin |
Kul Tiran | Dark Iron | Mechagnome | Alliance Sub | Zandalari | Nightborne | Mag’har | Horde Sub |
Naga | Old Gods | Twilight | Void | Primalists | Pandaren | Tuskarr | Dracthyr | Broken | Earthen |
Legion | Fel Orc | Sargerei | Scarlet | Scourge | Vrykul | Mawsworn |
Forest Trolls
First up is a group of Forest Trolls known as the Revantusk. Forest Trolls were first seen in Warcraft 2, and the over all Troll lore was expanded upon in Warcraft 3 and WoW. This is a group who are still friends with the Horde. There will be a worker unit, that for now I’m calling the Craftsman.
Starting things off with the combat units, the only thing new is the Scout, a tier 1 unit. There is already an Axethrower in Warcraft 3, and I’m adding a more powerful ranged unit, the Trapper. Once again, also already in game. Some possible stat changes could happen.
Next is the caster units. There already is a Priest creep in game so that model will be used. There are also two more I’m adding, being the Mage (temp name) and Hexxer, which will be a lot the Shaman on the Orc tree.
The siege unit will be a Catapult, but I can’t think of any flying units.
Last group s the hero units, with the Warlord first, using the model of the Forest Troll Warlord already in game. Next up is the Mystic, a caster hero, which I have in mind to be like the Far Seer on the Orc tree. And last, the Beastmaster. It will be a melee hero unit.

Taunka
The next group is the Taunka, first seen in the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. In the Warcraft lore they have a common ancestor with the Tauren, and help the Horde out.
Starting things off with the worker unit, that of the moment i’m calling the Worker. The name will change. It will pretty much look like the Tauren version, but with the different head.
Next up is the combat units, there are just two. Starting with the Tracker, it will be a ranged unit. There will be no tier 1 unit, and will goto tier 3 with the Longrunner.
Now for the casters. First up is the Sage, simply a healing unit, much like the Priest. The Wayfarer which is the Taunka version of the Spirit Walker. Last is the Druid of the Talon. It will be much like the version on the Night Elf tree already in game, and will act as their flying unit.
There will also be a Catapult as the siege unit.

Last the hero units. Starting with the Far Seer, will be like the version on the Orc tree. The Outrider will be the equivalent of the Tauren Chieftain, also on the Orc tree. Last is the Plainsrunner. A ranged hero unit, much like the version on the Tauren tree I made before.

High Mountain
The next group are the High Mountian Tauren. They are much like the Tauren already in game, but instead of horns they have mouse antlers. Based on in game lore it’s because of a blessing placed upon them.
Starting with is off they will have a worker unit, which based on lack of imagination at the moment, called the Worker. Don’t worry, if something new can be figure out it will be replaced.
Next are the combat units, starting with the Brave, which will be much like the version on my Tauren tree, but the weapon will be a crossbow. No tier 1 unit, but will have tier 3 in the Bluffwatcher. It will be much like the Tauren unit on the Orc tree, already in game.
Now for the casters. First up is the Druid of the Grove, which will have nature based abilities. The Dawnchaser, will basically be like the priest on the Human tree. And last the Sprit Walker, which will be like the version on the Orc tree.
The siege unit they will have will be the Catapult. And the flying unit will b the Eagle Rider. Based on an NPC seen in WoW.

And last is the hero units. First up is the Far Seer, will be like the one on the Orc tree. Outrider, will be their version of the Tauren Chieftain. And last the Plainsrunner, which once again like the one I made for the Tauren tree.

Vulpera
And the final group altogether, the Vulpera. First seen in the Battle of Azeroth. They are small, fox like beings who help out the Horde. They are nomadic and like to explore. Plus I have a really interesting concept for them when it comes to their building. Much like most of the Night Elf buildings, they will also be able to move. Pretty much a caravan thing.
First with the worker unit, the Scavenger. I figure it was the perfect name giving their nature
Now is the combat units, with the Sand Skimmer, a tier 1 unit, will be much like the Bruiser on the Goblin tree I made. Then the Dune Stalker, a ranged unit. Last, the Quickhoof. Pretty much a Vulpera riding an Alpaca but I don’t know if it should be a tier 3 or if it should act like the Kobo Best on the Orc tree.
Next group is the casters, and there is a few of them. They are all based on classes the Vulpera can play as in WoW. All names are temporary. First is the Mage, much like the Sorceress on the Human tree already in game. The Priest, also like the version on the Human tree. The Shaman, like the Orc version. Last is the Warlock. Remember, just temporary names.
The Vulpera will have a seige unit, just don’t know what. As for the flying unit, I don’t think they will have one.

And finally, the hero units. Starting with the Scoundrel, basically their version of the rogue. The Tracker, which will be a ranged hero unit. And last the Far Seer (likely temp name), which will be like any of the others.
Anyways, that’s the last of my series, at least for now. I do have other ideas, but there is still a lot to figure out and put together. And if anything, it will take awhile to post any of it up. Anyway, hope you liked my little fan series of possible tech trees for all kinds of possible playable factions if it could be done in Warcraft 3.
