Warcraft – Scarlet Tech Tree

Welcome back to the next episode of my little series, Warcraft 3: the massively expanded story taking events from World of Warcraft and putting it in the style of the strategy game that started it all. Because I’m kind of interested int he idea of the story of WoW being retold in such a format. With my concepts being made with the WoW Model Viewer and the Dressing Room on WoW Head’s site.

Today we have the Scarlet Crusade, a group of humans that formed an organization after the events of Warcraft 3, where some of the more northern human kingdoms were overrun by the undead. It all started with this one demon tricking some people into forming this army powered by the light to fight off the undead and anyone else not aligned with their brand of fanaticism. This tree will be a lot like the human tree I already put together but will mainly have some visual changes and some name changes. I wanted to create this because I think they are an interested group of people whose story should be told. That I like the idea of taking things it out on religious fanatics.

Starting things off the worker unit will still be a Peasant, much like before, and will also become a militia unit. Next up are the combat units, Starting with the Footman. It will be much of the same of what’s already on the Human tree already in game. In fact it will likely use the same model, but with some color changes in the texture file. Next is the Trooper, a ranged unit that will be much the same as the Marksman. The tier 3 will be the Knight, once again, nothing different. Last will be another combat unit, the Cavalier, which will be a lot like the Lightbringer on my Human tree. Some names might change.

Next up are casters. Once again, much of the same but with some name changes. Starting up will be the Preacher, which will be their version of the Cleric. Then there is the Friar which is going to be the Scarlet version of the Conjurer, asking like a more combat based caster. The last of them will be the Raven Priest, with its name based on the mob with the same name. The idea is it’s meant to be their version of the Warlock. The name might change but that’s all I got for now.

And last there is the siege unit which will be the Catapult, because why not. And I can’t think of a flying unit for now, much like is the case for the human tree I already made. I’m sure something will come to me someday.

And last, the hero units. They will all have something in common with the version of the regular human tree but with one exception. The first is the Bishop, meant to be their version of the Archmage. A caster hero with some of the same abilities. The Inquisitor which is new, meant to be a priest like hero. The Judge, which is meant to be their version of the Paladin. Same armor pieces will remind and the rest I think should be modified. And last the Houndmaster, which is ment to be like the human Ranger, and one of his abilities is to summon hounds. For the Inquisitor and Houndmaster I used armor sets that were seen in the Scarlet Enclave part of the Season of Discovery servers of the game. I actually thought they fit in pretty well with my concepts.
